SRHS’s Encore, under the direction of Larry Stanley, performed at the first Board meeting of the new school year on Tuesday 8/13. This group amazed us as they showed up polished and prepared on DAY 2 of the school year! Amazing! Two weeks before the start of the new 2019-2020 school year, 17 Sebastian River High School Encore students met together for five days, 8 hours a day, to prepare for the coming school year. Their journey began last school year as they went through a two day rigorous audition process culminating in a three hour rehearsal the last day of school.
During the summer, Encore was assigned a writing project to research the songs they were planning on singing for the new school year. They researched origins of the songs, composers, meaning of the text, cultural and musical influences. Their five day rehearsal culminated in an Encore Sneak Peek Concert where the students learned, memorized, and choreography seven songs.
