Greetings from the Athletic Director

Jessica Upchurch

Established in 1994, Sebastian River High School's athletic program offers a wide range of programs for its students. With 18 different sports and 32 team opportunities combined with a passionate and experienced coaching staff, Sebastian River student athletes traditionally have received scholarship opportunities beyond high school.

Historically, Sebastian River has enjoyed a solid reputation in the area of emerging sports programs, Title IX initiatives and championship caliber programs. Over the past twelve years, Sebastian River High School has led the State of Florida in the number of its student athletes who have earned an appointment to our Nation's Military Academies. To date, 30 have accepted the challenge to attend the US Naval Academy, US Military Academy at West Point, US Coast Guard Academy, and the US Air Force Academy. In addition, we are proud that one of our own, Joseph Preston, is a Rhodes Scholar (USNA Class of 2005).

In 2012, we were awarded the Class 7A FHSAA Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award, in recognition for outstanding sportsmanship exhibited by players, coaches, and spectators.

Athletic facilities include a 3,000 seat stadium with an eight lane synthetic track, site of the 1999 and 2001 State of Florida AAU Track and Field Championships as well as the NCAC Swimming complex site of the 2005 FHSAA State Championships. The gymnasium seats 1,680. Facilities on campus include baseball and softball fields, along with three practice fields, two of which have lights.

Our school mascot is the shark - known as “Thrasher.” School colors are royal blue, silver and black. Our slogan says it all, “You Can't Hide That Shark Pride”!
